Anna Frlan

Contemporary Sculpture Artist

Kitchen Anatomy (2007 ongoing)

The “kitchen as factory” concept of the post-WWII era introduced new functions and aesthetics to the kitchen, such as time-saving appliances and food preparation sciences. Using the same sheet steel as the manufacturing sector, Frlan fabricates her own kitchen appliances and household furniture. She intricately plasma-cuts imagery on her sculptures to reveal the origins of the modern kitchen and the changing role of women.
