Drop the Needle Installation

Drop the Needle (2016)
Frlan was artist-in-residence in 2016 at the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum. She created Drop the Needle by correlating 11 Steps to Survival, a guidebook on how to prepare for nucear war, published by Emergency Planning Canada in 1961, to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) emergency broadcast studio located in the Diefenbunker. The copper-stamped labels of the steel records in Drop the Needle identify Emergency Planning Canada as the producer of the 11 Steps to Survival.
